South Northumberland Cricket Club is delighted to secure the services of Steve Chapman as our new Director of Coaching.

The 46-year-old, who is currently Director of Cricket for Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Club in the Victoria Premier Cricket Competition and successful business director/owner of a cricket coaching company (Steve Chapman Cricket Coaching), will be joining the Club at the beginning of May.

The former Durham player will bring a wealth of coaching experience which includes stints with the Durham Academy, Director of Cricket roles with Dandenong Cricket Club and Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Club in Australia and Assistant Coach of Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League.

ECB level III qualified coach, Chapman has 13 years experience of running his own coaching business developing players both young and old from novice to elite level. Working as an ECB Development Coach at the beginning of his coaching career gave him extensive experience working with groups of children in Primary and Secondary Schools.

In his later roles as Director of Cricket for Dandenong and Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Clubs, Chapman has had a key role in coaching, developing and managing 4 senior teams, 4 regional representative teams and the club's Junior Academy.  He has also overseen the progression of several junior players through Cricket Victoria pathways into First-Class Cricket.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me to return home to the North East and further my coaching experience. I'm looking forward to getting involved and helping the Club develop their aspiring youngsters into senior and professional cricketers"

"South North has been at the pinnacle of North East cricket for nearly two decades now and is still extremely ambitious. I share that ambition and am extremely keen to add value to the coaching program."

South North CEO, Marcus North, said "We are delighted to secure such an experienced coach in Steve. His list of coaching roles and the experience of running his own Cricket coaching business over the past 13 years makes him a perfect fit for our Director of Coaching role"

"There are many people in the North East Cricket community who will know the quality and experience Steve will bring to the Club's cricket programs"

"I would like to thank Graham Onions for his commitment and professionalism during his time as interim Director of Coaching and wish him a successful summer with Lancashire"
