SOUTH NORTH APPOINT KEITH NEWELL AS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF COACHING
We are delighted to announce that the SNCC's new Director of Coaching will be Keith Newell; a post he will take up on 11th September 2023.
Keith brings over 30 years of cricketing experience, 12 years as a first class cricketer with Sussex, Glamorgan & Matabeleland, Zimbabwe before a coaching career beckoned in 2003 & beyond with Abergavenny CC, Cardiff CC, Welsh Women's Cricket, the Welsh National Cricket Centre, Glamorgan CCC & MCC Cricket Academy at Lord's.
Then 8 years at High Wycombe CC as Director of Cricket & most recently 8 years as Head of Cricket at St Benedict's School, Ealing.
His club playing career highlights with High Wycombe were winning the ECB Home Counties Premier League in 2008, 2011 & 2012; the most successful HCPCL side in the period 2007-2015.
He coached & mentored hundreds of junior players at High Wycombe & established a Junior Academy to provide a development pathway for junior county players to an elite level.
He has developed the cricket curriculum for games from year 2 to year 13 at St Benedict’s School, has worked in partnership with the ECB & Buckinghamshire Cricket Board to deliver a coaching programme for disability schools in South Bucks, has initiated " Cricket in the Community" Coaching Schemes to set up grass roots coaching within local schools both disability & mainstream.
Keith brings an infectious enthusiasm & passion for the game & aims to inspire, both young & experienced, players to identify & make the very most of their talent.
