After a tortuous week of unavailability & a regrettable cup tie concession, Captain Michael Harbottle cast aside such cares, won the toss on a sunny day at Roseworth Terrace, chose to bat & then shared a second wicket partnership of 167 with Alex Weetman as Whitburn's bowlers toiled. Harbottle was finally bowled by Smith for 86 (14x4 1x6, 113 balls) at 186-2.

Weetman lost James Ruddick at 186 & was then also bowled by Luke Smith for 93 (13x4, 2x6, 103 balls) at 199-4. Whitty (16) & Ryan Sidney Wilmot(36*) continued & the innings was declared at 262 after 47 overs, leaving Whitburn 58.

Mallaby & Hearn opened against the accurate seam attack of Michael Craigs & Cam Skinner. An early breakthrough by Craigs,10-1, preceded a determined 104 partnership between Mallaby (36, 100 balls) & Smith (77, 141 balls) which ended with Mallaby being run out by Ru Fletcher, 114-2. Matthew Whitty & Michael Craigs then swept away the remaining batsmen, Whitburn collapsing from 139-5 to 147 all out: 5 ducks in all, 3 lbw's & one stumping for Ben Sidney-Wilmot, Craigs 4, Whitty 4, Richard Brook 1.
