SNCC 1864 won by 8 wickets - 20 points, Hexham Leazes 3.

The 64's travelled to Hexham where, on a blustery day with a green tinge to the wicket, the home side won the toss &, after pondering, chose to bat. The covers had only been removed 10 minutes before play began.

Griffiths & Joyce faced the seam of Josephine Nkomo & left arm Archie McLean. A steady start had reached 31 when Griffiths (19) edged to w/k Belinda as Archie pushed one across him. 61-2 when Dennison 27 (23b 5x4) was caught at mid on by Varun off Gregor's leg spin.

At 69 Barrick (4) drove Gregor to mid off where Josephine took the catch. At 77 Joyce's vigil (17, 76b) ended as he was bowled by a Gregor wrong un, 4 down. Gregor bowling with good control & a consistent length.

At 87 Fitton (6) lofted Alan Roskilly high back towards the bowler, who made good ground, called & took the catch. 93-6 as Stanners was caught by Simon off Alan & 94-7 when Borini (1) was run out by a direct hit from Guy Johnson at backward point.

At 107 Cunningham 17 (87b) was bowled by Alan & at 109, Elliott (7) was bowled by Varun, who had begun a tidy spell, 3 maidens in 5 overs. At 113 Wheatley (4) was caught by Simon off Alan at mid on. 4 wickets for Alan but inconsistent of length he would agree.

The fielding was very good with only two drops, one difficult, so a good first half.

Belinda & Jack faced Fitton & Wheatley. In only 19 overs the 1864's reached their target. Jack (12) was caught at deep mid wicket by Dennison off the off spin of Elliott at 50, Belinda 37*. At 64 Belinda 42 (31b, 7x4,1x6) strong hitting through & over the off side & straight, was lbw to Elliott.

Jan 28* (27b,4x4), cover driving off front & back foot & sweeping & Guy 29* (38b, 3x4,1x6) hitting straight, cutting or lofting over mid wicket, saw the 64's home in style.

An important 20 points that sees the 64's in a temporary 3rd place on 152 points (other results pending) having played one more.
