1864s lose again as runs continue to be elusive

2nd Jun 2019

The pitch at Matfen was green - very green - after problems with the Matfen mower had prevented a last cut.

After losing the toss it was no surprise that the 1864s were asked to bat first. The pitch actually played better than had looked likely but scoring was never easy. Michael Harbottle  and Eashan Ragbir stayed together until the 19th over but the score was only 47. Thereafter wickets fell regularly. All out 95 in the last over was realistically not going to cause Humshaugh many problems. Michael Harbottle top scored with 40. Five ducks did not help!!

Humshaugh were always in control and scored the winning runs with 14 overs to spare to win by 6 wickets. Michael Harbottle with 3 for 13 in 4 overs was the pick of the bowlers.

Next week the 1864s are at home (Matfen) against Belsay. Some runs would be good!!
