The Bulls won the toss & chose to field. Amin & Chauhan faced the seam of Gavin Paton (rm) & Finlay Pearce (lm). The outfield was damp towards the flats but the wicket was fine.
Chauhan (0) driving, inside edged onto his stumps from Finlay in the 4th over, 5-1. This became 17-2 in the 8th as Amin (11) aiming to leg, lofted towards mid off, where Angus took the catch. 18-3 as Pinnington (0) played on in Ben Hobbs's first & 26-4 in the 12th as Humble (7) was bowled by a slower, full pitch from Finlay. A fine spell from Finlay against his old club.
There followed a good stand between Trevaskis & Walker. George Gray, a maiden but he & Ben were a tad expensive such that the score rose to 85 after 22 overs when Ru & Lunny in tandem slowed the scoring, Lunny bowling a maiden & several dots. In the 27th Walker (27) advanced to drive ,missed & was bowled by Lunny, 102-5 a good partnership of 76 with Trevaskis.
At 120 in the 32nd Trivedi (4), aiming to pull, was bowled by Lunny & Darwood (0) succumbed to a Ben yorker in the 35th, 7 down. Trevaskis (63,69b, 12x4) has batted well but in defending to Lunny was hit on the back pad in front, 8 down for 128.
In the 40th Ru continued his good catching week when Moudhgalya(4) drove Gavin aerially over cover for the skipper to retreat & take a good catch over his shoulder, 140-9. McLaughlin (7) missed a full ball from Ru to be bowled at 147 at the end of the 41st.
Lunny the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 19 in 9 overs including 3 maidens, another good, controlled spell.
Angus Southern (rh) & Alex Charnley (lh) faced the seam of McMorran & Trivedi. A steady start, boundaries for Alex (2) & Angus (1) saw the score at 31 after 7 overs. At 38 in the 11th, Alex (19) advanced to Walker's off spin, aimed to leg but edged to backward point where Chauhan took the catch.
Jan Ozmen & Angus proceeded with caution. 59 after 20 overs when Angus struck the first boundary for 8 overs. Another maiden & then another 4 to Angus before drinks, 63-1.
The first ball after drinks Jan (10) was lbw to Darwood's medium pace, 66-2, Alex Weetman joined Angus. The rate was at 3's then at 88 in the 29th Angus (48, 90b, 7x4) swung Humble to deep backward square leg where Trevaskis took the catch, 3 down. A good innings from Angus.
George Gray joined Alex W & hit boundaries off Humble & later 2 off McLaughlin but at 114 in the 35th Alex (11) hit a Humble full toss to mid off. His second such dismissal in two weeks ! Mortified !
George & Ru eased their way to the target which was reached in the 38th as Moudhgalya's first 5 balls went for 15, 148-4, a win by 6 wickets. George an eye catching 28*, Ru 14*.
This win leaves the 2's joint top of Division 2 but with 6 teams within 4 points the competition is strong.
