Coaching Update

4th Apr 2023

Dear Member,

The cricket season is nearly upon us and we look forward to welcoming you back to South North! The first home match is on Saturday 8th April when the first XI play a pre-season friendly against the Durham Cricket Academy.

Our dedicated staff have been busy preparing the ground and clubhouse during the last few months, as we anticipate the start of the season. We hope for another successful summer where players can improve as cricketers, in a safe and supportive environment. Let’s also hope for some sunny weather!

I wanted to let you know about a change to our coaching staff. Ru Fletcher (Director of Coaching) will leave his role on 30th April to join the Northumberland Cricket Board, taking up the post of Head of Female Pathway. We wish Ru well and thank him sincerely for his outstanding contribution over the last few years. Ru will continue to play an important role in South North’s development, as he leads the 2nd X1 and coaches one of the Sunday U/13 teams.

During the coming months Anya Meears-White will take on many of Ru’s tasks. She will lead the coaching team and all coaching activities, co-ordinate Junior match activity and lead on summer camps. Anya will be supported by John Ruddick and his team, as well as our 2023 overseas coaches, Josephine Nkomo and Shayne Moseley. We wish her well!

The recruitment process to find Ru’s successor has already begun and I will keep you updated with developments.

Howard Sidney-Wilmot

Chairman
