BULLS GO THROUGH ON NET RUN RATE AFTER 2 RUN DEFEAT AT THE FELL.

SNCC 154 ao (20o) Sadiq Khan 48, Jacob McCord 42, Ben Sidney Wilmot 18, Ru Fletcher 16: Rob Stacey 4-28, Lochlan Young-Hall 4-32, Layton Meek 0-37, Jamie Arkle 0-29, Tom Lugsden 1-24.

Gateshead Fell won by 2 runs -6 points, SNCC 0.

Winning the toss, the Fell chose to bat. Stephen Devenport & Tom Lugsden stroked an opening partnership of 71 before Devenport (30) was stumped by Ben Sid off Sadiq Khan. Rob Stacey & Lugsden, who both had lives, put on 43 for the second wicket before Stacey was caught by Allan Davidson at mid off from the bowling of Will Harris.

The last four overs went for 37 including 11 wides although Nathan Gough bowled both Mavin (4) & Young-Hall (0) in the last, 8 ball over. 15 wides in total, too many & two earlier dropped catches. Lugsden 81* (69b, 9x4) carried his bat commendably.

The SN reply saw Ru Fletcher & Sadiq Khan put on 43 for the first wicket before Fletcher (16) slapped Young-Hall to point. Gough (8) driving was caught by Stacey at mid on , 60-2. Sadiq fell at 84 for an excellent (48, 7x4,1x6) hitting down the ground fluently. Young-Hall took the first 4 wickets.

Jacob McCord & Ben Sid batted positively & ran well putting on 46 for the 5th wicket but at 137 Ben was caught by Tom Lugsden off Stacey. In a frantic last two overs Sahadevan (1) was yorked by Lugsden, & in the last, Davidson (1) bowled by Stacey, Gray (2) caught by Meek, McDowell (0) run out without facing a ball, & with two to tie & three to win, McCord was stumped by John Devenport for a splendid 42 (31b, 4x4), two off drives being particularly handsome.

A loss by two runs but progress to the next phase on better net run rate than both Ashington & Gateshead Fell, all three teams having 6 points.
