South North Girls star in County thriller

3rd Jul 2019

Four of our girls played leading roles in a thrilling encounter between Northumberland U13s and Durham U13s at Ryton today.

Olivia Miller (left), Trudy Johnson (centre) and Emma Walsingham (right)

Being put into bat, captain Olivia Miller and Emma Walsingham put on an opening partnership of 143 before Emma was out for an excellent 55 after the drinks break - her maiden half century. Olivia then went on to carry her bat with a superb 98 not out - 2 runs short of a century in the 35 over match.

In reply, an excellent 99 from Trudy Johnson was in vain as Durham were all out 30 runs short of the visitors 208. Sarah Vince with important figures of 4 for 34 helping seal the win for Northumberland.

All that hard work in the nets over the Winter from these dedicated young cricketers is now clearly paying off!

Well done girls!
