24th September 2024
6th May 2024
NEPL Sunday Division 1: 5th May 2024:SNCC v Chester-le-Street (h)
Chester-le-Street 47-2 (9.5o) Liam Colledge 20*, Liam Cook 15: Finlay Pearce 1-22, Will Young 0-25.
Match abandoned after 9.5 overs: rain/ground saturated.
SNCC 4 points, CLS 3.
The Academy are not having the best of luck. A second game abandoned after last week's cancellation at Hetton Lyons. After the heavy rain in Gosforth on Friday night the surface was damp and the game was in doubt. After a slight delay, a start was agreed, CLS won the toss & chose to bat.
Luke Allan (lh) & Liam Colledge (rh) faced the left arm seam of Finlay Pearce (Grove) & right arm medium of Will Young (Park). In over 3 Allan edged Pearce & w/k Ben Sid took a good, low catch in two hands, diving to his left, 6-1.
Colledge played freely & both he & Cook found the boundary in overs 4,5 & 6. The drizzle started in over 7 as Cook (15) pushed Pearce to mid off but was run out by a stunning direct hit from George Gray, moving in smartly & throwing down the non striker's stumps, 24-2 after a maiden over.
Colledge & Atkinson drove through the offside and straight in overs 8-10 but the ball was wet, batsmen began to slip & when the rain became heavier the umpires took the players from the field with one ball to go in the 10th over. A resumption was not possible.
