24th September 2024
5th Jul 2022
We are delighted to welcome Josephine & Alvin to South North as our overseas coaches. They arrived on 22/6 & 24/6 after overcoming visa delays.
Josephine Nkomo (25) born in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe is a right hand bat & right arm medium pace bowler, who made her first class debut in 2016. She rose to prominence in the 2017 Quadrangular Tournament featuring Ireland, India & South Africa. In the match against India she took 4-48 decimating the top order. She also took 4 wickets on her international T20 debut v Namibia, combining pace with accuracy of line & length.
In Feb 2021 she was named in Zimbabwe's squad for the home series v Pakistan & in May 2021 was named as Captain of Zimbabwe's squad for the 5 match series v South Africa Emerging Players. She has played 32 ODI/T20 games for Zimbabwe scoring 521 runs & taking 34 wickets. She made her debut for the SNCC 1864's on Sat 25th June against Haydon Bridge & took her first wicket on Sat 2 July v Haltwhistle in a mean spell of 8-1-12-1; she bowls a superb yorker.
Tshepang Alvin Dithole (29) born in Johannesburg, was included in the KwaZulu-Natal Inland squad for the 2016 Africa T20 cup. In June 2018 he was named in the Cricket South Africa Emerging Squad & in April 2021 in the KZN Inland squad.
A left handed bat, wicketkeeper & off spin bowler Alvin has played 106 1st Class/List A matches scoring 2869 runs with 3 centuries & 9 half centuries. He is an excellent fielder as those who saw the run out at Hetton Lyons on 25th June can testify. He then scored 51 on his South North winnng debut, seemimngly none the worse for a lack of sleep after two days of travel.
We are delighted they are with us, very much hope they both enjoy being at South North & are confident their stay will be mutually beneficial.
