SNCC 1864 80ao (20.4o) Jacob McCord 12, Will Carr 10, Will Garside 16, Simon West 31: Matthew Williamson 6-17, Will Moss 2-23, Will Forster 1-26, Adam Murphy 1-15.

A tough day for the 64's against 2022 champions Humshaugh. Winning the toss, the 64's decided to bat on a dry surface. Jacob McCord & Aaryan Wagh faced the inswing of Williamson & seam of Moss.

Aaryan(0) edged behind off Moss 3-1, then Woody (2), hit high above the pad, seemed unlucky to be adjudged lbw to Williamson, 8-2. At 21 Jacob (10) had the misfortune to top edge a gentle pull onto his helmet to be caught by the w/k Renton.

At the same score Jan (4) was bowled by a Williamson in ducker, 21-4. Will Carr & debutant Will Garside took the score nicely to 39 when Will C (10, 13b 1x4, 1x6), defending was also adjudged to be lbw off Williamson, 39-5.

This became for 6 as Patrick (0) played on to his second, in swinging delivery & at 44, for 7 as Gregor (0) driving, was bowled, both by Williamson. Will Garside (16, 28b, 3x4) had batted nicely, hitting off the back foot through the covers, but at 52, hit high on the pad, he too was the victim of a generous lbw decision, again off Williamson.

At 65 Jack Netts (1) was splendidly caught one handed by w/k Renton, low to his right, off Forster. Thereafter Simon West set sail, driving through the covers & mid-wicket he reached 31 before missing a full delivery. 83ao after only 20.4 overs.

The Humshaugh reply was forthright, Renton slog sweeping Gregor's leg breaks for 2x6 until at 33 he was bowled by Woody for 17 (12b, 2x6). The left-handed Straker had two lives in the 20's but then got away stroking a 30 ball 57* (8x4, 1x6) & although Crawford (7) was lbw to Patrick at 60, the game was up, the winning runs coming in the 11th over.

The team welcome back Josephine Nkomo for next Saturday's visit to Mitford hoping that runs can be fashioned & all the overs used. Onward, we must continue!!

Duncan.
