BULLS FINISH NEPL PREMIER DIVISION RUNNERS UP AFTER DEFEAT OF FELLING
24th September 2024
11th Oct 2020
It is with great sadness that we report that on Saturday 10th October 2020, Nigel Wardropper suffered a heart attack whilst walking the dogs with Lesley at the beach in Queensland. Sadly, he could not be revived.
Part of the triumphant SNCC U17 Northumberland League & Friarside Cup winning team in 1977, Nigel had the proud record of being an ever present in two consecutive & successful 1st X1 seasons, 1988 & 1989, over 50 games in each, before becoming 1st X1 Captain in 1992/1993, leading the team to a third-place finish in his first season.
A totally committed & cheerful cricketer, a hard-hitting middle order batsman & change bowler, in cup ties Nigel relished the challenge of quick scoring at the top of the order & then bowling the crucial, final overs.
Our most sincere condolences & thoughts are with Lesley, son Lachie, daughter Yoni, mum Nancy, brother Michael, sister Alison & all the family.
An occasion to remember Nigel will be planned in due course. This is all so sad & much too soon.
Duncan.
