South North graduates grasp their opportunities on the opening weekend, as the club senior teams opened with 3 wins from 3!
Sree Kanakala, a young leg spinner who has come through the junior ranks, who has been impressing not only at the club but at county level, started with 6fer in the first senior opportunity of the year. Rob Peyton smashed 70 at the top of the order and Calum Fletcher, learning from some experienced bowlers returned figures of 2 for 15 off 6 overs in the first team, in two superb spells. Jenny McDowell took 2 wickets for the men’s team in the Sunday fixture.
The 1st team beat Ashington by 165 runs, the 2nds beat the same opposition by 6 wickets.
The 3rds beat Gateshead Fell by over 40 runs, Patrick Hatcher captained the side for the first time and the game included an incredible hundred on debut by the exuberant Sadiq Khan!
A superb start and hopefully more good weekends to follow.
