Josephine Nkomo will become our first women's overseas professional

19th Jan 2022

Josephine Nkomo from Zimbabwe will become the first women’s overseas professional to sign for South North CC and the club is delighted to have her on board.

Josephine is a batting allrounder who has played many games for Zimbabwe. Whilst only 24 years old, we are hoping Josephine can have a positive influence on her new teammates and the players she coaches. The purpose of an overseas pro is to inspire and act as a role model to our girls in the women’s section.

It provides a superb follow up to 2021. The year in which we hosted our first professional women’s match at the club. A former South North CC player and youth set up graduate Ami Campbell secured a professional contract with the Central Sparks. U15 player Trudy Johnson, who won numerous Pat Robson & Co. Women’s and Girls player of the month awards, was selected for the Northern Diamonds academy and our u15 girls team reached the national finals of the u15 Taverners Competition.

We thank Pat Robson & Co. for their continued and generous support of our Women’s and Girls section, their support has been paramount in enabling us to include preseason training in our women’s membership for the first time and now the signing of Josephine.

We look forward to the 2022 season.
