With a side containing 6 juniors, on a cold day, a low, slow wicket did not encourage fast scoring. Winning the toss, the home side were asked to bat. Woody Wilson induced Mustard to play on with score at 5 in the 3rd over.

A steady partnership between Prasad & Patel ended at 32 in the 11th as Patrick got one to nip back to bowl Prasad (11). This was the first of 5 wickets to fall in 5 overs for 4 runs. Kabir (0) was very well caught by Will Carr, low down at point, off Patrick, opener Patel (11) was caught by w/k Aaryan Wagh, Pearson (0) was undone by a slower ball, both off Patrick, & at 34 Roy (1) was bowled by Albie McPate, 34-6 in the 16th.

Maclauchlan & Armstrong rebuilt slowly; Joe Dresser & Will Young had short spells but at 68 in the 31st, Maclauchlan (14) was caught by Mo Arabi off Patrick. At 72 in the 33rd Armstrong was lbw to Mo, 72-8. In the 35th Krzysiak (0) was bowled by Woody so 73-9, but captain Pounder & No 11 Marley resisted bowling changes for 5 overs to finish 82-9 after 40. Good ground fielding saved 20, Patrick 5-11. 13 wides something to work on !

Chasing, the 64's lost Belinda Wewalage (0) in the 3rd edging a drive behind, 8-1. But Aaryan Wagh (40* 4x4,1x6) & Mo Arabi (34* 2x4,1x6) settled, ran well & gradually upped the rate such that the winning runs were scored in the 22nd over.

A good win for a young side in difficult conditions. Accurate bowling, tight fielding & mature batting on display. Onward to Stamfordham (h) on Sat 6th May.

Duncan.
