Ami Campbell to Lead Ladies

15th Apr 2019

South North ladies received a HUGE boost late last week when champion ladies player Ami Campbell agreed to return to the club to lead the Pat Robson Estate Agents sponsored Women and Girls section into the 2019 cricket season. The former Yorkshire and current Durham Ladies team player re-joins the club following a spell away from the club’s women’s team, however Ami did appear on a couple of occasions last season in the men’s teams.

Ami brings extensive playing experience to her role having played 4 years in the Women’s National League with Yorkshire Ladies and is currently in her second year with Durham Ladies. A hard hitting top order left hand bat and brilliant cover fielder, Ami will be a perfect complement to our growing list of female cricketers throughout the club. Indeed her signing is very much a reflection of the club’s intent to return to the forefront of Women and Girl’s cricket within the county.

Director of Coaching Steve Chapman added ‘We`re delighted to have a lady of Ami’s playing ability return to captain our Women’s team at the club. She is an outstanding player and very much someone who we believe can help us get back to where we would like our ladies teams to be. There is massive interest in the women’s game in Northumberland currently and we are delighted to be able announce Ami as our Women’s team captain.’

The Women’s fixtures this season start on Friday 10th May with the club’s first game scheduled to be played away at local rivals Benwell Hill.
