It is with profound sadness we record that at 0713 today, Jack Chapman's long innings closed. A doyen of cricket writers locally, a stalwart of Blaydon CC, he fought for nearly three years following a severe stroke, overcoming covid in the process.
His 87th birthday would have been on Sunday 26thth June. A batsman of note, he did not give his wicket away without a determined fight.
