SNCC 1864 won by 36 runs 19 points, Haltwhistle 6.
The 1864's won the toss & chose to bat. Will Garside & Belinda Wewalage faced the right arm seam of Dodd & O Birkett. 0-1 after 2 balls as Will (0) was bowled by Dodd.
A slow pitch meant it was difficult to score, there were some missed chances & the total had risen to 45 in the 12th when Belinda (18) was bowled by O Birkett, 45-2.
This became 53-3 in the 17th when Jan (28) was caught by Snowdon at slip off Thompson. Will Carr swept the off spinner Graham for 5x4 & in company with Jacques Graham, the score had risen to 92 in the 28th when Will (33) was caught by Graham off Barker, 4 down.
Patrick showed intent & with Jacques took the score to 128 in the 33rd over when Jacques (17) was caught by Foxcroft, 5 down. This became 142-6 in the 36th when Simon West (3) was bowled by S Birkett.
Finlay Pearce joined Patrick & the pair added 17 when in the 39th over Finlay (6) was yorked by A Dodd
After 40 overs Patrick remained undefeated on 40* (5x4,1x6), a Captain's knock, with Gregor Pearce 9*, 169-7. Over 100 scored in the second 20 overs, bad balls were put away & many singles taken, defendable.
The Haltwhistle openers, R Graham & S Birkett, faced the spin of Gregor Pearce & the left arm seam of brother Finlay. 6-1 in over 4 as S Birkett (1) was bowled by an in swinging delivery from Finlay. Accelerating after over 8, Graham & Snowdon took the score to 46 after 14 when Snowdon (17), having had a life, was bowled by counterpart Patrick, full & straight.
David Cragg's spell was unproductive on this occasion but at 83 Will Young made the breakthrough, bowling A Dodd (17), with a full delivery, 84-3. The experience of Simon West slowed the rate & after 25 overs the total became 93-4 as Graham (37) lofted Simon to mid off where Gregor took a good catch at head height.
Squeezing again the total had only risen to 105 in the 31st when O Birkett (8) succumbed to a full Patrick delivery & was bowled, 5 down. Finlay returned & took 3 wickets, L Barker (6) drove to mid on where Will Garside took the catch, M Parker (7) was lbw & C Foxcroft (8) hit to cover where Simon obliged.
Little (1) was bowled by Patrick in the last over & Thompson, (3*, 40b) who had retired hurt earlier, defended the last 3 deliveries to prevent the last wicket being taken, 133-9.
A deserved win for the 1864's by 36 runs. Will Carr intelligently decisive, Patrick determinedly positive, Finlay displaying his bowling variations & a mix of youth & experience, fielding well & executing plans successfully.
The 1864's now 4th In WTL Division 1 on 48 points.
