Winning the toss, the 1864's chose to bat. The surface was dry & Jacob (8) hit 2x4 in the first over to set the tone, but at 17 he was bowled by a good one from Young.

Aaryan & Will Garside then batted sensibly hitting the bad balls but defending when necessary. The score rose to be 100 after 20 overs. Aaryan scoring down the ground, through the covers, off front & back foot & Will favouring the leg side.

Running well & taking the singles on offer as the field retreated, the partnership had reached a magnificent 181 when Aaryan (86, 93b, 6x4, 5x6) was caught by Pointer off Cantrell, 198-2.

Will Carr scored a mature, run a ball 21 (20b, 1x4) ensuring Will G got on strike, the latter got to 100 then accelerated, to be 132* (117b,16x4,4x6) at the end of 40 overs, an outstanding innings, 259-3 after 40.

Smith & Teasdale faced Josephine & Albie. At 2, Smith (1) aiming to cut, was caught by w/k Aaryan. At 6 Teasdale (2) was also caught by Aaryan off Josephine. At 19 Howarth was bowled by Josephine

Gregor Pearce's leg breaks then accounted for three of the next four wickets, Porter (0) was bowled at 25, Young C & B at 31; at 32, Harrison was caught by Gregor off Patrick & at 46 Wilson (16) was bowled by Gregor, 46-7.

Captain Barnett (37*) & D Rewcastle then stood firm until at 84 a returning Albie bowled Rewcastle (7). With the game gone, Barnett & H Rewcastle just batted & bowling opportunities were given to George, Will Y, Will C & Will G but a further breakthrough was not to be.

A disciplined & emphatic team performance by a young side & the highest batting partnership, 181, for any SN wicket so far in 2023. The 1864's are now 7th in Division 1 on 72 points.
