WILL ALEXANDER MAKES DURHAM CCC DEBUT IN PRE SEASON FRIENDLY.
SNCC are delighted to report that 17 year old Will Alexander (SNCC & DCCC Academy) made his Durham CCC debut in their three day, pre season friendly v Durham UCCE at Chester le Street on 25-27th March 2025.
With proud Mum & Dad watching, Will was asked to bowl in the 11th over from the Lumley end & took a wicket with his second delivery, Durham UCCE captain JJ Kelly defending, edged behind for w/k Robinson to take a regulation catch. A great start !!
A smooth run up & follow through saw a 4 over spell go for 20, including one maiden. Recalled from the Finchale end for a 3 over spell, including an edge between the slips which might have gone to hand, went for 16.
A third spell of 4 overs towards the end of the innings saw the wicket of century maker Charlie Whipple, caught on the deep mid wicket boundary courtesy of a smart relay between Ben McKinney & Scott Borthwick; in total,11 overs- 1 maiden- 63 runs- 2 wickets.
Not asked to bat on day 2 but a short three over spell for Will on day 3 yielded 6 runs with two maidens, as the spinners Calum Parkinson (6-74) & George Drissell (3-38) rolled out the opposition for 188, Will taking a straightforward catch at mid wicket off Parkinson to remove century maker WJ La Fontaine-Jackson.
South North are proud that Will has been given this opportunity & hope there may be more to come. We look forward to seeing Will bowl for the 1st X1 at SNCC during the coming season.
