MUCH CHANGED BULLS DEFEATED BY GATESHEAD FELL IN BANKS SALVER 100.

           Fri 25th July 2025: SNCC v Gateshead Fell (h) 100/100, NEPL Banks Salver.

SNCC 86 ao (83b) Angus Southern 22, Andy Doig 10, Oli McGee 16, Tom Jones 10: Harry Bennett 2-13, Robbie Dawson 0-18, Charlie Franklin 4-21, Andrew Porter 1-16, Mckenzie Lugsden 1-16.

 

Gateshead Fell won by 41 runs - 3 points, SNCC 0.

 

A much changed Bulls, captained by Rob Peyton, came unstuck against a lively Fell team who chose to bat first on an overcast evening. Clark & Dawson faced Davidson & Lunn. A missed chance from ball 5 at slip off Davidson reprieved Clark (47) who then went on to be the mainstay of the total, driving nicely on both sides of the wicket.

Dawson (13) bowled by Allan at 13 (9b) & French (20) bowled by Tom at 63 (38b) were equally positive & when Stacey (7) was bowled by Tom at halfway the total was 81, Oli, Allan & Danny suffering.

The second 50 balls saw the total rise to 128. Meek (2) was very well caught at long off  by Gavin at 89, Bennett (11) by Danny at deep mid wicket at100 (76b). Good fielding by Ru saw Pinkney (11) run out by Gavin at 113, Franklin was bowled by a Gavin yorker at 114, & Clark (47) bowled by Lunny at 115 (92b). 

Porter (6*) & Rutledge (6*) saw the total to 128-8 after 100 balls. It was getting dark.

In reply Bennett (sla) bowled the first 10 balls, SN lost David Edwards (0) to a catch at backward point from ball 2. Dawson bowled the next 10, 18-1 after 20b. Rob (7) was bowled by Bennett at 19 & Angus (22, 4x4) drove well only to find cover in Franklin's first set, 31-3 (30b). As Porter bowled 10b, Clark suffered a facial injury in the process of attempting to take a catch in the deep.

Andy (10) was caught at long off at 47 (45b) off Franklin & Ru (1) bowled by Franklin at 52 (57b). Gavin (5) followed bowled by Lugsden at 64. Oli (16) then skied to cover off Porter's sla, 66-7 (77b). Danny (6) was run out at 79 (86b) & Tom (10) likewise at 84 (91b). Two balls later Lunny (2) was bowled by Franklin, the Bulls 86 all out after 93 balls. Franklin 4-21 the pick but Bennett's 2-13 at the outset was crucial. Not a good day for the Bulls.

Onward to the second game in Group F SNCC v  Burnopfield ( a) 1800 (100/100) Fri 1st August, another challenging game for the Bulls.
