A sunny evening but getting colder, the Bulls gave a 1st X1 debut to U14 Elliott Mee & welcomed back Andrew Doig after a 3 year sabbatical against Ponteland, captained by SN old boy Inti Fazal. The TCB is a 5 over per bowler competition.

Choosing to bat, Chris Hewison & Sol Bell faced the seam of Rashid Khan & spin of JD Mirza.14 after 3 overs but then Mirza took 4 wickets in 3 overs to leave the total at 40-4 after 8 overs.

Hewi (13) after 2 emphatic drives for 4, played on, Sam Ewart (0) was lbw second ball, Nathan Gough (0) driving, was well caught & bowled & Oli McGee (1) bowled missing a sweep.

Sol & Ru Fletcher saw the total to 50-4 after 10 overs. Thereafter the change bowlers Waters & Common leaked 5/6 runs per over such that Sol's 50 came up in the 16th & in the 17th he despatched Khan for 4 then 6 to the short legside boundary. The total had reached 107 in the 18th when Ru (23, 21b 1x4) swung Common to deep mid wicket where Sinclair took the catch.

Andrew Doig (5*) feathered fine & Sol (77* 67b, 8x4 1x6) took 16 off the last with 2x4, aided by 4 byes. Another sound innings from Sol with many well timed shots batting through to enable a competitive total.

Chasing, Shahid Khan & Inti Fazal faced the seam of Gavin Paton & Nathan Gough. A wicket from the 5th ball as Khan (0) edged behind for w/k Sam Ewart to take a good catch, diving to his right. In the second this time to his left as Inti Fazal(1) edged Nathan down the legside, 2-2.

In the third Ash (5) skied towards mid wicket where James Lunn made some ground to take the catch off Gav. Mirza (15) was positive but in the 6th he too edged to Sam when Nathan got one to bounce, 26-4. A maiden to Oli but in the next by Lunny, Punia (1) was bowled.

In Oli's second over Chauhan (6) edged to Sam who took his 4th catch neatly, 34-6 after 9 overs. Appleby & Common resisted as Danny Collins entered the attack but in the 15th Common (6) drove hard to mid off where Sol took the sharp chance. In Lunny's last Trott (1) lofted toward mid wicket where Andrew Doig took the catch, 60-8.

Over 18 was bowled by U14 Elliott Mee from the Park end. Appleby struck 4 then 2 but with the third delivery, seemingly in two minds, Elliott bowled him ! Cue jubilation from his team mates ! But the story gets better for from the first ball of the 19th over by Danny, the left handed Sinclair cut towards short third man where Elliott ran 4 yards to his right & confidently took a good catch in both hands. What a way to end a debut !!

The next round of the TCB is on Wed 11th June v Lanchester (h), we hope you can be there: more excitement beckons!
