SNCC won by 62 runs- 6 points Benwell Hill 0.
The Bulls chose to bat. Bell & Ewart faced Harding (lm) & Jones (sla). 20 in the third over but then Sam (1) skied Harding & was caught by w/k Mustard. In Jones' second over Sol struck 4,4,4 2,4,4 through the covers & to mid wicket. In the next Poxon conceded 1,4,6 as Sol raced to 51* (9x4 2x6) in 22 balls.
Sol's excellent 68, (37b, 10x4 1x6) ended in the 10th as he was bowled by Kaushal as he aimed to force off the back foot, 85-2. Hewi hit his second ball for 4 to square leg.
Rob Peyton survived a very hard hit c & b chance to Kaushal but the pair ran well until at 107 in Max Williamson's 4th the 13th over, a slower ball from 23 yards was well struck but caught at deep mid wicket by Poxon, Rob (22, 23b, 2x4), 105-3.
Hewi & Birty accelerated Jones, Poxon & Patel suffered until at 154 in the 17th having taken 2x4, Hewi (39) skied to mid wicket off Harding. Birty (17) advanced to Chakraborty in the next & was stumped by Mustard. Oli (14*) finished with a flourish before being bowled with one ball to go. Gav (2*) from his only delivery. 172-6 defendable.
Mustard (lh) & Bell (rh) faced Wightman & Hoffmeister. 21 after 4 overs then Bell (6) aiming to cut Wightman, edged to w/k Sam Ewart. Mustard struck 3x4 in Nathan's first but in Oli's first Kaushal (6) was lbw to a slower ball, 45-2. In Oli's next Mustard (41, 28b, 6x4) who had batted splendidly, reversed to Tom Jones at backward square leg who took a good low catch, 59-3.
A wicket next ball as Patel (2)edged Tom Jones' first ball to w/k Rob down the legside 59-4. Two wickets in Oli's next as first Adam Heather (2), once of this parish, skied to backward point where sub fielder Matthew Rathbone took the catch. 5 balls later Williamson (2) was bowled, 67-6.
In Tom Jones' 3rd over Poxon (5) skied towards cover where w/k Rob took the catch, 82-7. From the Grove end, Gavin then took three wickets for 1 run in 6 balls. In over 17 Harding (5) played on, three balls later Chakraborty (0) was caught by sub Matthew Rathbone at backward square leg & Siddique (28) was lbw to a full delivery. 110 all out after 1 ball of the 19th over.
Onward to the final Group A game SNCC v Ashington, now moved to Friday 6th June,1800, 20/20, another exciting evening on prospect, do come along!
