The final game of the second team season ended with a pleasing 7 wicket win over Tynemouth which secured a third place finish in NEPL Division 2.

A damp outfield after much overnight rain but Tynemouth chose to bat. George Stewart & Chris Fairley faced the seam of Ben Hobbs & Danny Collins. In over Fairley (2) aimed to cut but missed & was bowled by Ben who was getting the ball to seam into the right handers, 9-1.

Two maidens to Ben then in over 10 Danny struck twice in identical fashion, George Stewart (10) mistimed to mid off & then Turner 9) did the same, Lunny taking both catches without fuss, 25-3.

Larner was positive taking 10 from Will's first through cover & mid off. He repeated the dose in over 16 driving Lunny to long on. But in Will's third Larner (26) lost his off stump & two overs later Snowdon (15) was bowled by Lunny with bounce & turn to take the top of off, 66-5.

At 75 in the 22nd Lineham (9) swung Lunny into the legside but found Ben Sid at wide mid on who took the catch above his head, 6 down. Davison (1) followed as he edged an intended cut to w/k Sam off Will, 76-7. Three overs later young Will Bogg (1) seemed slow to respond to Barry Stewart's call for a single & was run out by w/k Sam converting a Ben Sid throw from mid wicket, 82-8.

Barry Stewart was resolute & struck Archit for 3x4 but Archit finished the innings with the wickets of Rae (0) bowled & Bennett (0) caught at cover, chest high by Angus with consecutive deliveries in the 29th over. A hat trick to think about all winter !! The fielding had been alert with no chances spurned. Lunny's 2 wickets leaving him leading wicket taker in Division 2 with 33, bravo!

In reply Nick & Sam faced the seam of G. Stewart & Bennett. Scoring at 5's the pair put on 50 in 8 overs, Nick(16) had survived a chance to slip before he missed a full toss to be bowled by Davison's leg spin. Angus had three lives, two to long on by Bennett & one to mid off by Lineham but at 71 in the 15th Sam (34, 44b, 2x,1x6) called optimistically only to be run out by Snowdon's direct hit to the bowler's end.

Will Carr (6,1x4) playing back was lbw to Snowdon in the 21st , 96-3, but Angus (25*, 43b, 2x4) & Jan (0*) saw the Bulls home in the 24th courtesy of 2 leg byes & 4 byes, a prosaic end to the season !

25 players used, 10 of whom were juniors & a creditable third place in NEPL Division 2, one point behind Ashington in second. David (503) & Sam (464) leading run scorers, Lunny (33, best 5-38, economy 2.61) leading wicket taker in Division 2, followed by Allan Davidson with 15 & Will Young with 14: Ben Sid (16) victims leading catcher.
