A sunny day at Roseworth Terrace, the visitors were invited to bat. Scandle & Nevin faced the seam of Will Young (Park) & Allan Davidson (Grove). 2 boundaries & 4 wides in the first three overs but in the 4th Nevin (5) edged Allan to Ru Fletcher at slip who took a neat catch.

Platts (0) edged Will Young to w/k Sam Ewart in the 7th, 21-2. In the 10th Barber (5) playing forward, edged Allan to w/k Sam, 30-3. Joe Dresser's 3 overs were bedevilled by wides, the orange ball does swing !! In sla Jacques Graham's third over from the Grove Griffiths (7) pulled towards backward square leg, seemingly destined for 6, only to see Will Carr leap high & take a superb one-handed catch on the boundary, 48-4.

In the next, Lunny's (ob) first F Borini (0) edged to w/k Sam, 49-5. Two overs later Alder (7) skied Lunny to mid on where Joe Dresser took the catch, 6 down after 21 overs.

Post drinks Will Carr took the gloves & in the 24th had the misfortune to have a catch off Jacques ruled out because his hands were in front of the stumps! There followed a period of 8 overs when Scandle, who had struck boundaries to cover, long on & mid wicket & Ferguson resisted. George McConnell (lm) entered the attack in over 30.

In over 33 two wickets for James Lunn as first Ferguson (7) lofted to cover for George McConnell to take the catch & then B Borini (0) was bowled, 87-8. In the next Scandle (45, 61b, 6x4), the backbone of the innngs, pulled hard to mid wicket off McConnell, where Allan juggled but took the catch. Tynedale fielded 10 so the innings closed at 92ao.

The Bulls reply saw David Edwards & Jan Ozmen face the seam of Nevin & off spin of Barber. A cover drive for the captain in the first but in the second Edwards (7) cut to point where Alder took the catch, 8-1.

There followed a chanceless, undefeated partnership of 88* between Sam Ewart (57*,45b,10x4) & Jan Ozmen (29*,36b,7x4). Sam, driving freely straight or over the legside, struck 4x4 in B Borini's first over. Jan pulling, cutting & cover driving complemented, such that the winning runs came from the last ball of the 15th over.

One senses there will be tougher challenges to come.
