ALBIE McPATE THRILLED TO BE NOMINATED FOR AN ENGLAND SCHOOLS U 18 SOCCER TRIAL.
On Sunday 2nd Nov at Cochrane Park, Newcastle the Northern counties of Northumberland, Durham & Cleveland assemble for the England Schools U 18 trial. Among the 4 representatives from Northumberland is SNCC's Albie McPate, now in year 13 at Dame Allan's School & a 1st X1 squad member with Newcastle Benfield.
Albie spent his early years at Wallsend Boys Club. In 2024 he moved into senior football at 16 with Whickham Reserves & from a left wing position scored an impressive 36 goals. For Burradon U17's he was voted Player's Player, Manager's Player & Player of the Season. He also played a key role in helping Hew Hartley capture the league title. He scored twice as Northumberland won the Northern Counties Cup in Sheffield
Enjoying a cricket tour to Dubai in October 2024 he has spent 2025 completing his D of E gold award, trekking in Ecuador, climbing Cotopaxi & contributing to a reforestation project.
This year he has become part of the Newcastle Benfield 1st X1 senior squad & has been selected again for the Northumberland U 18 squad culminating in his nomination for the forthcoming England Schools U18 trial this coming Sunday 2 Nov.
Blessed with pace & an eye for goal, everyone at South North offers their very best wishes to Albie for a successful trial & forthcoming season hoping he will find space to play some SN cricket during 2026. A hat trick against Seaham Park in 2024 & some outstanding fielding are still in the memory !
Duncan.
