SNCC won by 10 wickets- 25 points, Newcastle 0.

A commanding win by the Academy securing 25 points means that, with two games remaining against Whitburn (7/9) & Newcastle (14/9), if two more 25 point wins were achieved the SNCC Academy would secure the Sunday First Division title !! May the weather be kind & we play well enough to achieve the target.

A very youthful Newcastle chose to bat. Huxtable (5) fell to first slip catch by Angus diving to his right off George in the second over. At 20 in the 5th Maciver (6) hit to Sam Lee at deep cover off Will Young. One run later Emmanuel Horsman Elphick (8) was bowled by Will.

At 35 in the 9th Hall (8) drove to Jan at short extra cover off Will, 35-4. A partnership of 14 covering 10 overs began as Sam Lee & Tom Oliver entered the attack,  & saw the total rise to 49 in the 19th but then 3 wickets in three overs as Aleri (7) edged to w/k Will Carr off Sam. Then Arulanantham (8) was caught at mid on by George off Tom Oliver. In the next Howell (0) edged to slip off Sam, Angus taking a neat catch.

At 52 in the 21st over Raphael Horsman-Elphick (3) was bowled by Tom Oliver. The innings ended when Joseph Dresser took two in two as Johnson (3) was caught by Jan at short extra & Pickard (0) bowled first ball. On a hat trick with the next ball he bowls !!

The SN reply saw Aadi cutting 3x4 in the first over off Howell. From overs 4,5,6 & 7 Olly took 4 +1 clipping into the legside either side of square. Aadi regained the strike to take 4+1 from the 9th bowled by Nadala. The end was nigh & concluded in over 11 as 2x4 + 4 byes from Johnson saw the total rise to 62-0, Aadi 24* (33b 5x4), Olly 26* (33b 4x4).

Onward to Sun 7th Sept SNCC v Whitburn (h) 1330 40/40 a pivotal game in the pursuit of 25 points. We hope you can be there to cheer the team on.

Duncan.
