Felling won by 20 runs.
The visitors chose to bat, Stamper & Carroll faced Davidson & Fletcher. A fast start saw 10x4 in the first 7 overs, as the variable lengths of Davidson, Fletcher, Dresser & Young were punished. A wicket in the 9th as Carroll (23) edged Joe Dresser & w/k Will Carr took the catch, 64-1.
In the second half of the innings Jacques Graham's slow left arm commendably bowled 4 overs for only 16. Stamper & Goudie both continued to attack but in the 17th Liam Stamper (61,48b, 9x4) was well caught by Jacques at long on off Allan, 117-2.
Chris Goudie pressed on to reach 40* (38b, 5x4) in company with Tony Trotter (7*) to reach an imposing but not impossible 143-2 after 20 overs. Some good fielding, especially a boundary dive to save 4 at long on by Joe, but the few aerial chances not attacked & the ground fielding tended to be inconsistent.
David Edwards & Ru Fletcher faced the seam of Lowery & sla of Trotter. At 26 in the 4th Ru (2) missed a slog sweep & was bowled by Trotter. At 34 in the next after 2, 6 to mid wicket, David (29, 20b 3x4 1x6) forcing off the back foot, edged Goudie to w/k Stamper, 2 down.
George McConnell struck 2,4,1 in Trotter's next. Newman (ob) began a spell from the Park end in the 8th. George hit him for 6 to square leg & then Goudie 4 to long on in the 9th but in the 10th George (25, 22b 24 1x6) swung & missed ti be bowled by Newman, 73-3.
Will Carr pulled Goudie for 4 but in the 12th on the back foot was bowled by Newman for 9, 84-4. Joe Dresser (1) & Jan Ozmen (13) were stumped by Stamper off Newman in the 14th, 90-6. Will Oliver & Fraser Hall were positive against the medium pace of Dawlzatia & Lowery but at 117 in the 18th, Fraser (10) edged to w/k Stamper, 7 down.
Dawlzatia bowled nicely, 4 overs for only 16 at a crucial time & Trotter returned to claim 2 wickets in over 20 as Allan (3) attacking, was c&b & Will (15) bowled leaving Jacques 1* & the total 123 -9, 20 runs short.
A tad disappointing to get within striking distance: if only someone had batted through. In 20/20 cricket, fielding really matters; we must continue to aim to improve!
