1864'S ABANDONED AMID RAIN & DISTANT THUNDER AT HUMSHAUGH. Sat 11 July 2026: NTCL Div 5 South: SNCC 1864 v Humshaugh (a) 40/40

11th Jul 2026

SNCC 1864 148ao (29.2o) Joseph Dresser 26, Jacques Graham 44, Elliott Mee 19, Paddy Rathbone 23: Robert Forster 3-22, Will Forster 1-37, Rowan Parker 0-35, Will Moss 1-32, Michael Arnup 3-19.

Match abandoned: Humshaugh 13 points, SNCC 1864 12.

A warm, cloudy day at Humshaugh, a used wicket with crease hollows, the 1864's won the toss & chose to bat. Joseph Dresser & Aadi Bethanabatla faced the right arm seam of Robert & Will Forster. A drive to long on by Joseph in over 2, a 3 to Aadi in over 4 & 3x4 to Joseph in over 5 to long on & mid wicket.

But in the 5th over a call for 2 by Joseph was rescinded half way down resulting in Aadi (4) failing to make his ground & run out, 23-1. In the 6th Joseph struck 6 then 2 to leg but perished as a delivery from W Forster did not bounce as high as expected & he was bowled for 26 (30b 4x4 1x6), 31-2.

Jacques Graham was positive pulling 3x4 in over 8 off Will Forster. He repeated  this in over 10 from Parker clipping 4.4.4 to leg. At 67 in the 11th Matty Rathbone (5) was caught at square leg off Robbert Forster, 3 down. Jacques continued to attack taking 2.4.1. off Parker in the 12th.

Belinda stroked 2x2 but at 87 in the 15th was caught off Robert Forster, 4 down. Paddy Rathbone stroked a back foot 4 off Parker but in the next Jacques (44, 37b 8x4), pushing forward to Robert Forster was lbw, a splendid innings for his team, 94-5.

Elliott Mee began with 2x4 off Moss & he & Paddy raised the total to 137 in the 24th when Elliott (19, 18b, 4x4) trying to pull, was bowled by Arnup as the ball drifted in, 137-6. Sadly in the next Paddy Rathbone (23, 36b 5x4) was strangled down the legside off Moss, w/k Renton taking the edge, 137-7.

Tom Young (0) succumbed, bowled through the gate by Arnup in the 26th, 9 down. Jack Seymour stroked a boundary & Dominic Johnson 2 but at 148 in the 30th Arnup dived forward to take a caught & bowled as Jack tried to attack a ball that bounced a bit. 148 all out, sadly  only 10 players available.

Then the rain came & although the thunder & some distant lightening moved away, the rain persisted & the game was abandoned.

This result still sees the 1864's in second place in Div 5 South on 266 points behind leaders Annfield Plain on 299, with Stamfordham third on 253.

Onward to Sat 18th July SNCC 1864 v Matfen (h) 40/40 from 1300.

We hope you can be there,

Duncan.
