1864's won by 60 runs- 29 points, Blaydon 7.

An outstanding opening partnership of 192 between Nick Tomlinson (140*) , a career best score & Aadi Bethanabatla (96) paved the way for a comfortable 60 run victory over Blaydon, lifting the 64's into 4th place in Div 5 South.

Nick's chanceless innings firmly banished a sequence of run outs as he stroked 17 x4 & 2x6 from 129 balls. Just such a shame Aadi (96, 76b, 16x4, 2x6) could not join him in reaching three figures.

Surviving a dropped chance to the w/k off a no ball Aadi swept the spinners or hit straight, pulling anything short to square leg, whilst Nick prospered through extra cover, off his legs & down the ground.

There was no respite until at 192 in the 29th over Aadi (96) was caught by Mason at cover off Cunningham. Nick was 85 at that point. Will Carr (0) got a good first ball that tracked in but moved away off the pitch to take off stump & two overs later Fraser Hall (1) drove to midwicket,  203-3.

Nick continued & reached his 100 in the 33rd over. In the next he plundered 4,6,2,2,6.1 off the luckless Stanger. At 251 in the 37th over Belinda (15) was caught at mid wicket but Nick carried his bat to be there at the end of the innings on 268-4, all 4 wickets to Joe Cunningham's right arm seam.

In reply two maidens as Jacques Graham & Tom Oiiver were accurate & in the second of those, Noon (0) top edged a pull which Belinda caught at mid on, 0-1. Gamsby hit 3x4 off Ani Kalluri in the 7th but two overs later he cut Ani to gully where Nick held a good catch at head height to his left, 32-2.

Wake was positive striking 4.6 then 4 then 4 more in overs12-14 but in the 15th Wake (36, 42b 6x4 1x6) was yorked by Ani, 68-3. In the next over Mason (4) drove a catch to Ani at mid off, Leo the bowler, 73-4 & although Bullerwell started brightly he lost Norman (10) forward but lbw to Elliott Mee at 81, 5 down.

Cunningham (11) perished in over 23, missing a big shot to leg & bowled by Elliott, 102-6. Bullerwell & Stephen put together a good partnership of 54 but at 156 in the 34th over Bullerwell (52, 59b, 5x4 1x6) was caught by Elliott off Aadesh Sahadevan at mid wicket as his attempted flick lobbed into the air, 7 down.

Jacques Graham, Will Carr & Adi sought more wickets & it was Jacques who snared Stephen (14) lbw in the 37th over, 168-8. Stanger then threw the bat & amassed 41* in no time striking 4x6, but the innings closed on 208 -8.

A good win with good fielding & tight bowling. Grateful thanks got to Stephen Harper who very kindly volunteered to  umpire the whole of the SN innings.

Onward to Sat 6 June 1864 v Gosforth Strikers (a) 1300 40/40. We hope you can be there.

Duncan.
