MIDWEEK BULLS UNDONE BY MORPETH. Thurs 7 May 2026: NTCL Midweek Open League: SNCC v Morpeth (h) 16/16o

7th May 2026

SNCC 78-6 (16o) Tris Meears-White 26, Joseph Dresser 20, Will Oliver 5, Waheed Safi 5: Liam Day 2-17, Theo Turner 2-10, Harry Moody 0-16, James Weatherburn 2-18, Joseph Brock 0-8.

Morpeth 82-3 (9.3o) Archie Glass 16, Max Raimes 27, Ted Glanville 18*: Joseph Dresser 1-23, Simon West 1-30, Tom Seymour 1-3, David Cragg 0-5. Matt Williams 0-12.

Morpeth won by 7 wickets - 9 points, SNCC 0.

The short version:

"They bowled at the stumps on a wicket that did a lot. We played too many poor shots & got some good balls. We didn't bowl at the stumps & lost."

The longer version:

" The Bulls chose to bat, the wicket was towards the Roseworth Terrace side. Seymour & Will Oliver faced the seam of Day & Turner. Two good yorkers in over one from Day bowled both Seymour (0) & Harper (0).

In over 2  Will Oliver (5) aimed a big shot but was bowled by Turner. 6-3, not a good start ! Safi (5) succumbed in the 4th over beaten by Turner's inswing, 16-4. Tris Meears White & Joseph Dresser then put together a partnership of 40. A 6 to wide long on for Joseph but at 56, attempting another big shot off the slow left arm of Weatherburn, he was caught, 5 down.

The youthful Moody & Brock bowled 4 overs for 24  but in the last over Tris Meears-White (26) advanced but skied the full toss to cover. Richard Oliver 4* & Jack Seymour 1* completed the innings at 78-6 which included 17 extras.

In reply Hume & Glass faced the seam of Dresser (grove) & Simon West (park). 11-1 in the second over as Hume (3) skied West to cover where Waheed took the catch. Glass (16) seemed determined to swing at every ball & in the 5th was bowled by Dresser.

M Raimes & Glanville put on 36 for the 3rd wicket, Raimes being particularly attacking as West suffered in his third over conceding 20, mostly to the short leg side boundary. At 60 in the 8th over, Raimes (27 2x4, 2x6) attacking, was bowled by Seymour.

Glanville (18*, 1x4 2x6) & F Raimes (4*) completed the 7 wicket victory after only 9.3 overs of the 16 available: the total of 82-3 included 14 extras.

Not a good evening for the Midweek Bulls who seemed to want to rely on big shots rather than work the singles."
