DELIGHTFUL 31ST SNVP GOLF OUTING TO NEWBIGGIN.

On Sunday 11th Sept SNVP golfers visited Newbiggin by the Sea on the occasion of the 31st such outing since the inception of the SNVP in 2010, promoted by Paul Carding, the then Chairman, & continued by Duncan & Chris Harker there after.
Most grateful thanks were offered to the 17 who played, to Chris for booking the course & paying the deposit & to Garrie for, most generously, offering 4 ball prizes to each of the 5 teams that took part.
Apologies were offered by Richard Miller, David Gorton, Mike Tait, Graham Bruce, Duncan Mackenzie, Andy Reeman, Ru Fletcher & Nick Gandy.
After a very gusty Saturday, blue, sunny skies & the calm of a gentle zephyr on Sunday by the sea greeted the party & added pleasingly to the catching up that occurs on such occasions. The smiles & stories were evident !!
The pre round bacon rolls & coffee were consumed with relish. Best two scores to count on each hole, so at 1148, three, three balls were followed by two four balls. Leading off were Mike Anderson, James Brown & Chris Harker. They were followed by Colin Belfield, Paul Carding & Howard Sidney-Wilmot.
Third away were Bill Kidd, Garrie Forster & David Bolam, followed by Alan Dickinson, Mark Dolder, Nigel Campbell & Duncan Stephen. Last to set off were Scott Alexander, Olly Alexander, Peter Crane & David Martin.
The warmth of the day persisted on the front nine holes but cooled on the way home. Players found the fairways dry & greens slick on the more exposed holes but less so on those in the shade.
Taking around 4 hours to complete the round the restorative, delicious soup & sandwich were most welcome.
The scoring was as follows: Bill, Garrie & David 70 points: Colin Paul & Howard 72: Alan, Mark, Nigel & Duncan 79: Scott, Olly, Peter & David 81, Mike James & Chris 84. Mike's personal total of 43 points was outstanding.
Grateful thanks were given to Chris, to Garrie ( who had donated a 4 ball voucher for Ramside Hall for the winners, 4x 4 ball vouchers for the other teams at High Gosforth Park) & to Duncan.
Chris has already booked the Spring 2027 outing on Sunday 21st March at Dunstanburgh, meet at 0930, 6 tees from 1030, the usual intent being 6 x 3 balls.
