SNCC won by 9 runs- advance to finals day Sun 19 July (Jesmond)

(s/f 1: Newcastle v Burnopfield..... s/f 2 :  Burnmoor v SNCC.)

A difficult start at Lilywhite Terrace as the Bulls found themselves 8-3 after only 3 overs as Sol (1) missed  straight one from Tahir, Chris (2) driving at a wide one, skewed high to point off Watt & Rob (0) was bowled by Tahir. Bushy & Adam resisted 33-3 after 8 overs & then in the ninth Adam (10, 19b) sweeping, was bowled Burdon, 36-4.

Bushy & Angus Southern then put together a vital partnership of 49 for the 5th wicket as Burdon, Ralston & Talbot attacked. The total had reached 85 in the 16th when Angus (24 23b 2x4) drove Watt to deep cover on the boundary where Fishwick took the catch.

The fireworks came in the last three overs as 41 runs were scored. 10 from the 18th bowled by Talbot - Oli 5, Bushy 5, 11 from the 19th by Ralston -Oli 9, Bushy 2 & a magnificent 20 from the last as Talbot suffered straight- 4.6.4.6. all to Bushy who finished with 77*(54b,8x4,2x6), Oli 17* (12b, 2x4) ; 134-5 - defendable.

There was a little in the wicket & one sensed a tricky chase might ensue. Fishwick & Clay faced the seam of Bushnell & spin of McGee.  At 11 in the 3rd over Clay (5) skied to cover where Will Phillips took the catch off Bushy.

Nathan suffered as Kitime attacked in overs 5 & 7 but the introduction of Nicky in over 8 saw Kitime (25, 18b, 1x4, 2x6) bowled playing across the line. 53-2. In the next Talbot (6) missed a sweep & was bowled by Will Phillips, 60-3.

Will & Nicky shared the next 6 overs as the total rose to 82 when Ralston (9) driving, was caught & bowled by Will. Sam Lee bowled over 15 & bounced back from conceding 6 to his second delivery to having Walker (4) caught by Adam at cover from ball 6, 100-5.

In Oli's next non striker Dixon (0) was run out when Chris's throw from point to w/k Rob, left him short of his ground, 104-6. Fishwick (52, 48b, 2x4 3x6) had been a mainstay batting nicely but in over 18, Sam's second, he went back to force but played on - 113-7.

In over 19 Tahir (11) launched Bushy to long on where Oli moving to his left took a very good diving catch, 123-8. In the last over Will Phillips accounted for Moulder (1) bowled & Watt (0) caught by Adam at cover. 4 wickets for Will, 2 for Sam : teenagers to the fore in pressure moments !! 125ao after 19.4 overs, a very good win by 9 runs after a torrid beginning. The belief is  there !

Onward.
