A clash between the league leaders & 2024/5 champions Burnmoor went the way of the Bulls after a disciplined bowling & fielding performance, showing patience & good control even when not taking wickets, & taking wickets at important times no more so than the direct hit run out of Bowman by Adam from cover, not having faced a ball, & the remarkable left handed catch by Calum on follow through off a fierce Pringle drive.  Then, at the last, three wickets for George in the 53rd over, which initiated the declaration at 239-9.

Then, in reply, Sol Bell stroking a chanceless 112 & from 72-3  in the 17th over, a match defining partnership of 138 between Sol & Adam Cragg set up the 5 wicket win in the 55th over. 26 points sees the Bulls on top of the Premier Division table by 51 points from Burnopfield, one game before the half way point of the season.

The home team were invited to bat. Greenwell & Brown were faced by Jonny Wightman (road) & Jonny Bushnell (scoreboard). A  life for Greenwell in the 4th as the edge off Bushy was unable to be taken by Hewi diving at second slip. 30 without loss after 10 overs as Bushy bowled a maiden.

Calum & George bowled overs 11-21 & the total rose slowly as the batters were watchful, 82-0 after 23 overs. Oli suffered in his 3 overs conceding 31 Greenwell hitting to the shorter Pavilion side & straight.

Wightman & Bushnell returned & in over 28 Greenwell (59, 80b, 4x4 3x6) aimed to guide Bushy to third man but edged to George at slip, 114-1. Without addition the first piece of magic. Called for short single into the offside by Brown, Bowman (0) was run out as Adam moved left, collected in the left hand, transferred to the right & hit the one stump visible at the w/k's end, wow! 2 down.

Pringle attacked when the opportunity arose, Brown rotated. Nathan Gough entered the attack in over 32 for a 3 over spell being pulled for 6 to square leg by Pringle. Calum rejoined the attack in over 38 & in his 3rd Pringle drove hard back towards the bowler. Cal stuck out his left hand on follow through & the catch was held !! A second magical moment! Pringle (43, 42b, 5x4 2x6) an important wicket ending a partnership of 61 with Brown, 175-3.

George returned in over 45 with Nathan replacing Calum. At 201 in the 48th Poynter (13) was caught by Calum at deep cover off Nathan. Brown & Tindale pushed on. The total had reached 235 in the 51st when Brown (80, 158b, 6x4) was lbw to George, sweeping. Two runs later, in Bushy's next, Tinners (23) was caught at long off by Adam. At the same score, in what turned out to be the last over of the innings, Coughlin (0) was caught by Sol at long on off George, Hoffmeister (2) bowled playing forward & Harding (0) caught & bowled playing off the back foot. The over went . w 2 w w when the declaration came 9 down.

Hewi & Sol opened up against Tindale (rm-road) & Harding (lm scoreboard). In over 2 Sol struck 4's to cover & mid wicket. In over 3 Hewi (0) was lbw to Tinners playing forward. At 35 in the 8th George (13, 18b 2x4) was stumped by Bowman standing up off a Harding leg side wide. Bushy joined Sol & the pair advanced the score to 72 in the 17th as Hoffmeister & Coughlin attacked.

Then Bushy (15, 27b, 2x4) was lbw to Hoffmeister, a cracking delivery pitching leg & hitting off stump. Craggy entered & immediately cut Hoffmeister to point, twice for 4. By this time Sol had struck 7x4 & he reached his 50* in the 22nd over bowled by Bridge.(sla).

Singles & a maiden but in the 26th Adam struck 2 then 6 to mid on off Bridge,113-3. Pringle bowed 2 overs for 10 before tea. On resumption Sol stroked Harding for 2,2,2,4 to mid wicket & cover, 139-3.

Aa Harding, Hoffmeister & Husband sought a breakthrough Sol & Adam ran 28 singles, 2x2 & 2x4. As Tindale resumed in over 43 the score was 188 & in the 45th, Sol reached a deserved 100* with a 2 off Tindale.

At 210 in the 47th Sol (112, 149b, 11x4) hit a Coughlin full toss to mid on ending a partnership of 138 with Adam which contained 52x1, 14x2, 1x3, 9x4 1x6. The athleticism & placement of the right left combination to the fore yet again.

Rob Peyton joined Adam & stroked Tinners for 4 to cover then 1. In the next he drove Coghlin twice to cover for 4. Adam added another in over 52, the total rising to 232. Rob (17, 20b 3x4) then chipped back to Greenwell in his only over.

David Edwards pushed a single & repeated in the next, then a leg bye & another single saw the Bulls home by 5 wickets. Adam 63* (100b, 6x4, 1x6) another exemplary innings, David 3*.
