A sunny day at Roseworth Terrace, the Bulls chose to bat. The competing claims of the Corbridge beer Festival seemed to weaken the Tynedale team. Aadi Bethanabatla & Sam Ewart faced the  right arm seam of Max Gradwell (Park ) & Hugo Odd (Grove).

A wicket second ball as Aadi's (0) forward press allowed the swinging ball through the gate. George Gray joined Sam & the pair had started to accelerate when after two well struck boundaries, off the back foot to cover & straight, George (20, 14b 3x4) aiming a touch to leg, edged to gully, 37-2.

Will Phillips (17*) & Sam (43*) took the score to 85 at drinks after 17 overs with Craig Barbour in the middle of a tight spell of off spin from the Grove end. After dispatching Martin-Dobson for 2x4 to square leg & cover, Will (29, 40b 4x4) cut to point where Hayley Falla took a neat catch, 101-3.

Sam reached 50* in the 24th with a single to mid wicket off Barbour & in company with Ru Fletcher advanced the score as Odd returned & Platts began a spell. At 144 in the 31st Sam (62*) benefitted from a change of decision by the umpire who accepted that the initial LBW decision was incorrect.

At lunch after 34 overs the total as 161-3. Hayley Falla had just begun a spell of off spin from the Grove end. In over 35 Sam (80, 100b, 9x4, 2x6) drove & pulled 4 then 6 to mid wicket off Odd. In the next, forward, he was lbw to Falla.

Ru reached his 50* in the 41st over & in company with a subdued George McConnell took the score to 211 in the 44th when George (14) hit a Falla full toss to mid wicket, 5 down. Lunny entered & was busy. Gradwell returned but it was Falla again in the 48th when Ru (64, 98b 8x4), one ball after he was dropped in the same place, skied to deep mid wicket & was caught by Martin-Dobson, 240-6.

Ben Hobbs stroked a nice looking (11, 9b 1x4) before he was caught at long on off Falla, 254-7. This left Lunny (20*) a positive contribution & Sam Lee (2*) to end the 50 overs at 256-7 declared.

In reply Griffiths & Nevin faced the seam of Hobbs (Park) & Young (Grove). 4 maidens in the first 7 overs but radar awry as w/k Sam had to be alert to prevent leg side byes. In the 6th Griffiths (8) skied Will Y to mid on where George retreating, took a good catch over his head. 16-1.

Lunny (ob) began a spell in the 9th & Sam Lee (rm) in the 12th. Consecutive maidens for Lunny & then in the 12th Sam, whose radar was also awry, persuaded Platts (5) to cut to point where Will P dived forward to take a good catch close to the ground, 22-2.

Nevin (10, 53b) had been obdurate & flat batted1x4 to cover off Lunny but in the 18th he drove but edged Sam Lee to w/k Sam Ewart, 42-3. Borini (0) was bowled by Lunny in the next so drinks were taken at 43-4 after19 overs.

The next 6 wickets fell in 11 overs as Lunny & Nicky found the right length & line on a slow surface. At 50 in the 21st Barbour (12) swung Lunny to deep mid wicket where George G coming in smartly off the boundary, took a very  good catch falling forward, 5 down.

Jess Clarke (8) had already steered nicely to 3rd man, skied to long on, swept to deep square leg & driven off the back foot through cover but succumbed, lofting to a wide mid on where George G took his third catch with aplomb, 57-6.

At the same score Hayley Falla (4) pulled to short fine leg off Nicky where Ben took the catch. Maidens followed but in the 27th Martin-Dobson (2) missed a slog sweep to be bowled by Lunny 62-8. At 65 Scandle (3) went back to Lunny but edged to w/k Sam. One over later Odd (4) forward was bowled by Nicky, 70 all out in the 30th over.

Lunny 5-20, Nicky 2-10, Sam 2-17, Will Y 1-12, a comprehensive win but there will be tougher games to come.

Fielding mentions to w/k Sam, Will P at point, Ru at leg slip & Aadi at point, all run saving efforts that made a difference.

30 points leaves the Bulls up to 3rd in Division 2 on 179, 10 ahead of Benwell Hill in 4th & 40 behind top of the table Chester-le-Street, Newcastle second on 196
