SNCC won by 9 wickets- 6 points, Lanchester 0.
The Bulls chose to field, Mustard & Meadows faced Bushnell & Nicky Phillips. Success in over 2 as Meadows (6) edged to w/k Rob Peyton off Nicky. Switching the bowlers saw Nathan & Oli bowl overs 5-8. Mustard struck Nathan for 4 & 6 but in over 7 McCabe (6) was very well caught by a diving Nathan at long off, Oli the bowler.
46-2 after 8 overs, Brown greeted Birty with a 6 but in the next Mustard (30, 26b, 1x4, 2x6) reverse swept Will Phillips to Hewey at point, 55-3. Will got another in his second over as Brown (12) launched to long on where Sam took the catch, 62-4.
Oli snared Grosert (2) lbw in the 13th & then McPhail struck 2x4 in the Nicky's third. In the 15th Renton ( 8) pulled flat to Hewey at mid wicket off Birty, 81-6. In Oli's next McPhail (14) was bowled by a slower delivery, 81-7 & two balls later, Sherwood (0) was also bowled. Taylor struck 6 then 2 but then edged Bushy to w/k Rob, 90-9.
In the 19th 2 wides preceded Gohery's (0) run out when a shot to cover was returned by Hewey to Rob, 102 all out in 18.5o.
In reply Hewison & Bell faced the seam of Gohery & K Taylor. Consecutive 6's to Hewey, the second carried over the rope at mid wicket, 14-0 after 1 over. In the third Bell (2) mistimed a drive & was caught at md off, Gohery the bowler, 18-1.
After 6 overs the total was 38, Sherwood & C Barnes took up the attack but variations of length were punished by both Bushy & Hewey, 10 from the 8th over, 7 the 9th, 19 the 10th as Sherwood suffered 6,2,4,6,1 straight or to mid wicket.10 the 11th & with his 5th 6, Hewey won the game after 2 balls of the 13th over.
Hewison 52* (36b, 2x4 5x6), Bushnell 48* (30b, 4x4 3x6) a comprehensive win.
Onward to round 3 of Group C on Friday 22nd May, SNCC v Hetton Lyons (h) 20/20 from 1800. Excitement guaranteed !
