A cloudy & cool evening becoming distinctly cold, with league & National Club Championship matches approaching saw the Bulls rest Hewison, Drissell, Wightman & Fletcher & offer opportunities to Ewart, Phillips N, Alexander W & Birtwisle.

DCA won the toss & chose to bat. Paul & Dalton faced the sla of McGee & seam of Alexander. In over 3 Paul (8) edged Bushnell to w/k & captain Peyton, 14-1. In the 4th Dalton (7) drove Alexander to short extra where Cragg took a sharp chance.

In over 6 Nixon (3) as non striker, was defeated as he retreated, beaten by a direct hit from Bushnell at mid wicket, 34-3. Twiddy (18) had batted nicely but at 49 in the 10th he drove Gough to cover for Cragg to oblige with aplomb.

A sharp piece of stumping by Ewart in the 14th as Walker (10) played forward but raised a heel to be stumped off McGee, 73-5. Briggs & Hill put together a partnership of 31 until at 104 in the 19th Hill (18) ramped Gough only to see Phillips take an excellent catch over his shoulder on the run towards fine leg.

In the last Barlow (4) edged to w/k Ewart off Alexander. 7 overs of spin from Phillips & Birtwisle had only conceded 37, 124-7 included 17 extras, the fielding was sharp.

In reply Ewart & Bell faced the sla of Twiddy & seam of Barlow.  At 17 in the 4th Ewart (6) aiming to leg edged high to cover where Paul took the catch. Accurate bowling by Hood & Fowler led to Bell (8) playing on at 18 & next ball Peyton (0) top edged to w/k Briggs, 18-3 after 6 overs, work to do, timing seemed elusive, the fielding was athletic.

There followed a sparkling innings from Cragg who, in company with Edwards, put together a partnership of 65. Finding the gaps, running well, despatching the ball to all parts, strong driving, pulling, sweeping or reversing, Cragg struck 7x4 & 3x6 from only 43 balls in a sparkling display.

Edwards (14) supported well but at 83 in the 14th edged a forcing shot off Walker's off spin to w/k Briggs. Cragg was inventive & relentless taking 3x4 off Twiddy in the 15th & 2x4 off Walker in the next but at 108 edged a cut to the w/k off Walker.

Bushnell (13*) & Alexander (6*) saw the Bulls home after 2 balls of the 19th over. It was cold!!
