1864s TRAVEL TO HUMSHAUGH

14th May 2018

Any fixture against Humshaugh is going to be a tough one and the 1864s travelled there last Saturday with a much changed side and without a recognised wicket keeper. Availability continues to be a concern.

Humshaugh won the toss and elected to bat first. Good opening spells from Will Varley and Simon West restricted the run rate. But eventually the Humshaugh middle order got going and the innings ended on a daunting 206 for 6 from 40 overs. Will Varley was the pick of the bowlers with excellent figures of 3 for 20 in 8 overs.

Wickets fell regularly when the 1864s batted. Only Will Caldwell from the top order looked in control. Later runs from Will Varley, Simon West, Jack Netts and Alan Fletcher helped the 1864s reach 172 when the final wicket fell. Will Caldwell on debut batted very well for an excellent 76.

So a win for Humshaugh by 34 runs which happens to be the number of extras conceded by the 1864s!!

Next fixture on 19 May at Matfen against Belsay.
