At our Rugby Dinner on Thursday, 12 September 2019 we will bring together an expert panel to look forward to the Rugby World Cup 2019, due to kick off in Japan the following week, and to give an insider’s view on this and past competitions.

Zinzan Brooke played number 8 for the All Blacks, playing 58 tests and 42 non-international matches for New Zealand. He scored 17 tries in Test Matches, a record at the time. He kicked a 48 metre drop goal during a 1995 Rugby World Cup match, one of three he scored in test matches. He retired from international rugby in 1997 and moved to England to play for Harlequins.

Mike Tindall played outside centre for Bath and Gloucester and won 75 caps for England. He was a member of the England squad that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003.

Jill Douglas is a respected and experienced sports broadcaster and journalist who regularly appears on the BBC and ITV. Jill is best known for her work in rugby and cycling and began her career as a print news journalist in the Scottish Borders before moving into television. She became the UK’s first female rugby presenter when she fronted Rugby Special. Jill has covered a variety of major events including four Olympic Games, five Commonwealth Games, three Rugby World Cups, Lions Tours and Six Nations Championships.

Jill was born in Hawick and grew up in the Borders and loves her horse racing and rugby and is a lifelong Hawick RFC supporter. A close friend of the Weir family, Jill coordinates the day to day activity of My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
