Advanced Courses
The advanced course is prepared and run by Nicky Phillips and Martin Speight who are assisted by a number of current Durham players. The course covers all aspects of the game, from technical skills to the mental side of the game. The course is designed for current county players and those aspiring to be so (aged 10 – 18). The course runs from September to December.
The syllabus is designed to allow the coaches to adapt to each of the participant’s needs and so for this reason, we have reduced the coaching ratio for this course from 4:1 to 2:1; therefore the maximum capacity for the advanced course is 10 per session. Participants will only be allocated to groups of matching age and ability.
To assist the coaching staff, there are bowling machines (hard and soft balls), which will be available for each lane, video analysis facilities, crash mats and various other equipment to help achieve excellence.
In line with ECB recommendations for the autumn, bowling will be limited and will be focused on aspects such as the gather, coil, release and follow through.
Details regarding dates, times and costings will be published closer to the time.
